Why hello again everybody!

Thank you so much if you were able to attend the 2011 Welcome Week A Cappella Show. We’ll be posting some videos from the awesome performances fairly soon.

The fall is a wonderful time of year, filled with apple pies, pumpkin pies, blueberry pies, and lots of great A Cappella! Make sure you don’t miss any performances by checking the NYU Sings calendar up at the top of the page and e-mailing your favorite group to put their information up or ask when their shows are if you don’t see it. Most groups have an “official” fall show and several groups do these shows together. It’s a fun-loving collaborative group of groups here and we all love to put on a great show and have you come hear what we’ve been working on!

If you have any questions on NYU A Cappella, don’t hesitate to shoot us an e-mail at info@nyusings.com. See you at the fall shows!

Although the semester has not yet begun, it’s already time to start thinking about auditions. Whether you’re an incoming freshmen, or a member of any other class, it’s never too late to get involved in the fun that is NYU A Cappella!

If you’re not convinced, just take a look at this insightful article:

A cappella singers suddenly the popular kids on campus

Okay, so maybe you’re not coming to NYU to be the, “popular kid on campus”. People come here for millions of reasons, from wanting to learn how to be a neurosurgeon all the way to learning how to make art out of burlap bags.

The one thing I know is that when I found my A Cappella group, The NYU Vocaholics, my world changed for the better. I felt like I was a part of something instead of just being some random freshmen, searching for a home. My weekends became slowly filled up with not only rehearsal time, but all of the after-practice-hangout-sessions at Weinstein, all of the street sings in Washington Square Park. I’d found my true friends here, and they were the Vocs!

So maybe this will happen to you. Or maybe it won’t, maybe you’ll find your closest friends at the vegan collective you start frequenting in Williamsburg, or the theater somewhere downtown that you find one day when it’s pouring rain and it’s the only light you see. Chances are nothing is going to be that dramatic…but hey, who am I to know what your amazing future life at NYU will be like?

The main thrust of this entry is that I think you should try out for an A Cappella group! What have you got to lose? Nothing. To gain? A few things, one could argue.
